Olympics Eve, Vancouver

Well... Here we are.

Competition starts in 10 or so hours.

My primary tasking is done- all the hardware is installed and configured.
Our operators are dug in like Alabama ticks.

It's the things we can't control that are scaring the crap out of me.

Cypress is shin-deep in rainwater.

Wizzler visibility is being expressed in negative numbers...
Hard to see the bare spots as you go downhill at 100mph.

PAC and ROO are doing reasonably well... (Knock wood)

Otherwise it's just hurry-up-and-wait.
The Apostle has a rehearsal that starts at 11 tonight, probably last until 1 or so.

I'm on standby at this point. Waiting with crossed fingers, hoping for snow.

Are you kidding me? You are praying for snow in Whistler whilst the southern US is seeing measurable snow? Montgomery, AL up to 4 inches of Snow, Albany, GA 1 - 3 inches of snow, Panama City, FL rain mixing with snow late.
And you think global warming isn't real.

There is a huge difference between believing that the climate is changing, and believing that we're causing it. Funny thing about the climate of the Earth, it's been going thru changes JUST like this for many thousands of years. If we couldn't possibly have caused the previous ones, why is this one suddenly 100% manmade?

And by the way, carbon dioxide has been clearly recorded to FOLLOW the rise in temp, not to precede it.

Yay! "Bug" for President! He is spot-on correct!

I've been trying to get that exact same understanding through to others. People just hear what they want to hear and if they are told that humans are not causing global warming they think it's because the person saying so doesn't "believe in it" and is somehow disrespecting Al Gore. (Who, by the way, contradicted himself so often and so clearly in his own movie, I can't understand how he did it with a straight face. Did he think we are such sheeple that we wouldn't notice? Apparently, sadly, some are.) It is so frustrating to try to get someone to listen and not just hear what they want to hear.
