Movie Wisdom

From the movie "Shoot 'em Up"
Mr. Hertz (Paul Giamatti's character) comes up with a bon mot that has a myriad of applications...

"The leader who stays in the rear, takes it in the rear."

New Linkage

I've posted a couple new victims on the Links section of the 'site...
We now have Ben in Florida - Help Desk Tech and all-around good guy.
Ben was one of our victims in Beijing for the Olympics...
He was one of our IBC crew- working long hours to make sure all the data encoding got to the NBC tape library systems and all the web data feeds were running and correct.

I looked for a pic of Ben... The only ones I have is him with his head down working.
(Typical IDS crew - only one guy in 5 actually working...)

Normally he works in the IDS Help Desk providing support to the NHL and NBA scoring crews and making sure everything runs smoothly during game-time with the Leagues.
(He's also provided on-site support to the NBA Finals... More of that soon, no doubt.)

The other new link is for Bas' Blog-

I had the pleasure of working with Bas Marijnen during the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai. He was one of our utility infielders- one of the guys who did anything and everything that needed to be done in order to make sure things went smoothly.

I have a few pics of Bas getting mobbed by the girls in the autograph circle...
I'll be posting those soon...

Anyway- Welcome to the fun house, guys....

An Interesting Way to Deal With It...

Dear Employees:

As the CEO of this business that employees 110 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama is our President-elect, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled through our parking lot and found 6 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.

If you have a better idea, let me know.

Your CEO

Sheeple and Ammo Day

Several Items:

Happy National Ammo Day-
Do your part, buy 100 rounds of your favorite caliber!

I went shopping and bought a case of 12ga 7.5 and 200 rounds of .40 SW...
Just enough to spend an hour or so at the range with the PC and have a good buffer of The Necessary on hand in case of emergency.

An interesting note though...
I tried to get it at Dick's Sporting Goods, they were out of almost everything...
I saw 2 boxes of .44 and 3 boxes of .45, and a reasonable amount of 12 & 20 gauge,
and a good amount of .22, but no 9mm, no .40, no .380, .357 or .38.
I was thinking that a good number of folk were celebrating National Ammo Day, but I found out that they hadn't received a shipment of ammo for 2 weeks.
(i.e. Since just after the election.)
Things that make you go "Hmmmm." eh?

Anyhow-
I was persistent - I got everything I needed at Wal-Mart. Cheaper, too.
Woo hoo!

Bryan Brothers and Studio 188 In Concert

Mike and Bob Bryan played with Studio 188 (remember them?) on Thursday afternoon in the Public Food and Beverage tent... There was a pretty raucous crowd there.

Change

Well now...

Here's a change...

Back during the election we had Barry Obama's position on 2nd Amendment issues:
(from The One's website)
- Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade.
- Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them.
- They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof.
- They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

But...

The page is missing now...
Can't find anything on His Oneness' website regarding gun policy or 2nd amendment issues.

Oh yeah- one more thing...

Change.

You've Got What You Wanted.

...now let's see what happens.

Concerns and thoughts:

Obama is the President.
In addition to his radical policies, my newest concern, based upon his acceptance speech, is that he is a President to African-Americans FIRST, if not ONLY, and that we will be punished for slavery in fairly short order.
Update-
When I watched the video of the victory speech, I was watching with a biased view. When I wrote this piece I think I was a bit (ok, more than a bit) heavy handed. I went back and watched it again because in reviewing my post, it struck me as a bit overly reactionary. And after viewing it and then reading the transcript, I'm not sure I took everything in the correct context.
So I will rescind this part of my post...
(/update)

A Democrat in the Whitehouse and a Democratic legislature. Say goodbye to checks and balances.

I've been thinking about next steps and how to move forward.
Stoic silence ?(No doubt to be applauded by the Commie-Symp-Pinkos in the crowd, you-know-who-you-are....)
Venom-and-vitriol-filled rant on how the country is going to hell in a handbasket.
Or maybe just throw in the towel and drink the KoolAid.

None of the above.

Here's where I'm going...

There are some things we need to do.

We stand up for our principles and morals.
In my case, Florida US Congressmen and Senators as well as the State House of Representatives will be sick of hearing and seeing my name in regards to issues that I deem relevant... I will email, phone and sky write commentary every time I think they need guidance- which I believe will be quite often.

We stay positive and focused. The race for 2012 begins NOW.
It will start by holding The One accountable for every broken promise,
every false pledge and every outright lie with I-told-you-sos and unabashed finger pointing, just as my Commie-symp-pinko friends have been doing the last 8 years.

We pay respect to the office of the presidency.
I will never accept Barack HUSSEIN Obama as my president. I didn’t support him before, and him being elected doesn’t change that.
He will send this country down in flames, and there’s no way I can respect him for that. He didn’t win on the up and up. I can’t prove it, but I know it anyway.
He is a dishonorable man who spent half a billion dollars and 2 years to buy an honored position. I respect the office, not its inhabitant.

We count our blessings and recommit ourselves to our constitutional republic.
We fight.

First up is the defense against the Fairness Doctrine.
Watch Fox and anyone who spoke out against The One get bent over the back of the sofa...
Next, protecting the second amendment.

After that, an assignment for fiscal conservatives in Washington:
Oppose the Democrats’ next stimulus boondoggle.
Oppose Obama’s windfall profits tax proposal.
Oppose new bailouts for states deep in debt.
Oppose new foreclosure prevention measures that will simply provide perverse incentives for borrowers to walk away and delay a needed market correction.
No more federal loan guarantees for corporations

Other items:
Do not accept liberal premises. Get facts.
Do not quote to me liberal statistics you cannot back up with facts.
Do not blame conservatism.
Do not listen to the networks that you know are liberal spin machines.
Never go to the polling place alone, take a friend, co-worker, elderly parent, neighbor or even first-time voter.

Last-
I'm declaring a moratorium on pleasantries to liberals here.
The sheeple need to wake the hell up.
They don’t know what a “mean conservative” is.
We’ve been too nice to them and given them too much rope.
That ends today.

For me, at least.

A Disgrace.

The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace
What must our enemies be thinking?
By JEFFREY SCOTT SHAPIRO - WSJOnline

No doubt our all-seeing, all know readers like Skunk and Travis will not bother to read Mr. Shapiro's well thought out piece, but it is very accurate...

I'm reminded of Kipling's poem "Tommy"

'Tommy'

I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.

We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;
While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind",
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind.

You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

Well, there you have it.

Congratulations, all you who voted for hope and change.

Enjoy.

1457 days until the next election.

TBG, holding my breath.
