Constant Readers...Help me out here.
Inside the NBC Network Ops Center at the IBC in Vancouver there is a ladder...
For use in all tasks that would be considered "Ladder Intensive".
Exhibit A: Ladder
What is this?
Some kind if organic growth on the ladder?
Exhibit B: Ladder detail
Seems to be...
Barnacles.
Balanus balanoides
The puzzler-
Why would a ladder in a network operations center be encrusted with barnacles?
Anyone got any ideas?

Maybe you should consider it a hint, and not put anything important lower than the 2nd rung.
I know another venue that used to flood waist deep quite often and has even been know to rain beer and soda into the webteam room.
Former executives?
Well, you know that part of the world used to be part of the Pacific Ocean ...
All good guesses...
I'm just hoping to find an office chair with a growth of Crassostrea gigas...
I'm bringing some Tabasco and horseradish back with me in February...
