I was too young when JFK, Bobby and MLK died so I can't answer "What were you doing when it happened?" But for 911, I was on the phone with Pat. When he told me that a plane "might" have crashed downtown, I ran in the boardroom to watch CNN...What I saw will forever be in my mind. Peace.
I AM old enough to remember JFK, Bobby, and MLK ... *sigh*. On the morning of 9/11 I was sitting in Dunkin' Donuts on Savannah Highway in Charleston, SC, with Buddy, totally oblivious to what was going on. We left in our separate vehicles about 10a.m. and he called me a few minutes later to fill me in. I refused to believe him because, as I said at the time, "things like that do NOT happen in this country." At first, I thought he was telling a bad joke. When he finally convinced me it was true, I was crushed. I found a TV a few minutes later and sat transfixed for hours. I, too, will never, ever forget what I saw.
Well said Luc, I am also too young for those. I came out of a doctors appt to find Lex & Terry (a morning radio show) talking about planes hitting the WTC..I was somewhere between confused and annoyed that they'd be joking about such a thing until I realized they were flat out 'doing the news', which is SOOO not their thing...as the picture became clear I had to start making calls because my family all thought I was still in NYC (I had flown home a day early). I got home and watched sad, mad, and bewildered for hours. Yes, it will be forever in my mind.
Do you have a firearm that you have purchased for home protection, but are not comfortable with your ability to safely maintain, load and fire it?
Uncle Jay would be glad to help.
If you've never shot a firearm or would like an introduction into shooting sports, just let me know.
I can arrange range time and can give you practical assistance in learning about guns, or help you with your personal protection firearm.
Always remember the 5 rules:
1. Always treat a firearms as if it is loaded.
2. Never point a firearm at anyone or anything that you do not intend to kill or destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
4. Know your target and what is beyond the target.
5. Don't be a dick.
You can violate one of the rules and you might survive; If you break two of the rules, someone could be hurt or killed.
Violate the 5th rule and the person hurt or killed will probably be you.
Always remember: You are personally responsible for anything that happens while a gun is in your hands.
